Due to several wet roadways, freezing temperatures, black ice, and a chance of snow showers in the county after midnight, Yancey County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay on Friday, December 12, 2025. We will reassess weather conditions tomorrow morning and announce any changes to the school schedule by 6:30 am. Have a good evening and drive safely in the morning.

Due to the Winter Weather advisory of additional snow fall, freezing temperatures and icy roadways in the morning, Yancey County Schools will have a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Students - please check your school email, Google Classroom accounts or ClassDoJo for any additional information your teacher may provide. Middle and high school assignments may also be sent out electronically. Students please log on with your teachers at 11:00 a.m.

Good evening, this is Mr. Byland with several announcements from East Yancey Middle School, Our band concert is at 6:30 on Thursday at the High School. On Friday, we will have our annual Winter Dance from three until five pm. Cost of admission is $5. Friday evening, we will also celebrate our 6th graders for winning the penny wars.
